The primary function of the Receiving Operations Manager is to manage the entire Receiving Department; to include but not limited to Unloading, Tagging, and Stocking inbound freight. He/she ensures workplace health and safety requirement are met by making sure the management team of the Receiving Department is enforcing all policies and procedures of the company. The Receiving Operations Manager also conducts regular department meetings to review progress and keep the management of the Receiving Department aware of Company initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review regular reports and statistics on a daily and weekly basis
  • Motivate, organize, and encourage teamwork within the workforce
  • Deal with personnel issues such as the recruitment, training and discipline of staff
  • Plan the arrangement of goods within the warehouse and organize special requirements for certain stock with the other members of the Receiving management team
  • Build personal connections with associates through authentic and purposeful interactions and connections
  • Reinforce critical behaviors and recognize associates appropriately
  • Follow-up with associates and management to answer questions in a timely manner
  • Share appropriate level of information regarding department goals and building focuses to associates and management
  • Ensure safety rules and regulations are adhered to and followed, focus on incident prevention
  • Work with Receiving management to achieve results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards
  • Work with other departments to achieve common goals
  • Monitor staffing levels and payroll

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 4+ years people management experience, and proven ability to set clear goals and expectations
  • Proven ability to motivate self and others
  • 4+ years’ experience within operations (shipping and/or receiving in particular)
  • Mathematical aptitude
  • Accountable, responsible, reliable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Process improvement inclination
  • Must be successful in a fast paced and physically demanding warehouse environment
  • Strong verbal/written communication and organizational skills
  • Skilled at multi-tasking and managing competing priorities
  • Detail oriented and accurate
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of SAP and Red Prairie
