The Sales & Operations Planning Manager (S&OP) within the Bob's Discount Furniture organization is responsible for developing tools, processes and communication strategies that ensure alignment between monthly sales forecast, demand and supply plans spanning multiple categories, sales channels, and cross functional teams. The S&OP Manager is responsible for leading the monthly S&OP process, focused on short term to long term planning and decision-making optimizing customer service levels, operational costs, inventory investment, and revenue attainment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and manage S&OP process for a $2B furniture retailer to ensure product availability at the most cost efficient and strategic use of financial resources.

  • Initial steps to include S&OP process map, identification of critical cross functional partnerships and ownership, including monthly deliverables into the S&OP framework.

  • Own collection and vetting of data inputs from cross functional teams while identifying key call outs in preparation of monthly S&OP meetings.

  • Partner with key S&OP functional leaders in elevating critical operational constraints and inhibitors to Company’s sales and profit objectives.

  • Align the S&OP vision, strategy and processes with company vision and strategic initiatives based on best-in-class benchmarking in support of optimizing margin realization and inventory management.

  • Collaborate with Merchandising, Supply Chain and Finance to align company-wide strategies and tactical plans.

  • Measure demand forecasting accuracy and variability.  Drive towards building company-wide consensus forecasts between Demand Planning, Finance, and Sales team.

  • Connect demand forecasts to inventory optimization plans determined by Inventory Management team, creating an 18 to 24 month production plan.

  • Develop transparency of all components, datasets, and sources of input into the S&OP model, including historical accuracies and risk assessments.

  • Establish alignment with operations and supply chain partners to production strategies across our global supply network to ensure capacity plans can meet targets in both the near term and long term. 

  • Ensure communication of critical decisions are raised and aligned to by Bob’s leadership team.  Progress deployment of plans into functional areas for execution, with feedback loop for challenges, new insights, or course correction.

  • Work with department heads to stand up a continuous process improvement plan for further advancement and later adoption into a ‘to be determined’ business software solution including demand and supply planning, machine learning, S&OP management, etc.

  • This is a highly visible role that will require the person be capable of communicating, presenting and influencing senior level executives on a regular basis.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Mathematics, Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management or related field.

  • 10+ years’ experience in demand/supply, financial or sales planning.

  • Prior experience in leading Sales & Operations Planning processes.

  • Comfortable owning and leading the S&OP process definition and orchestration with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; proficient with MS Excel and merchandise planning system.

  • Self-directed individual who can work independently and comfortably collaborate cross-functionally.

  • Illustrates a dedication to meeting requirements of internal and external customers, responding to all customer requests promptly and thoroughly.

  • Strong communication skills including the ability to work in a team environment, give honest, direct feedback and is a solid verbal and written communicator.

  • Meets deadlines, prioritizes appropriately, copes well with change, and maintains composure under pressure.

  • Is accountable for results, approaches obstacles proactively and looks for ways to resolve problems and issues.

  • Strong organizational skills, motivated, and meets deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
