Job Description

This is a critical leadership role in the facility.  As the primary onsite leader for the overnight operations this position will require strategic thinking, problem solving skills and making significant decisions on what the shift does on a daily basis.  The manager must foster positive and continuous growth of all employees by having the ability to work with a diversified workforce and maintain constant open communication on all policies and procedures.

In order to achieve a continuous work flow while meeting or exceeding operational procedures the ability to balance workloads between all warehouse departments is required.  Ensuring all deadlines are met while adjusting and adapting to the changing job priorities is essential.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Implementing and enforcing the warehouse operational policies and procedures regarding shipping, receiving and other operational areas as business dictates. Monitors daily operations and staff – recommending when necessary, changes in procedures, department structure and any personnel changes to ensure optimum utilization of staff.

  • Manage all 3rd shift staff through effective recruitment, training and development of all employees.

  • Counsels employees on job opportunities, which will enhance their warehouse development and keeps staff informed on current events, problems or changes within the department or company as a whole. Briefing them through periodic or one-on-one meetings.

  • Coaching, counseling and disciplining employees ensuring all warehouse standards are met or exceeded.

  • Reviewing payroll hours daily for correct hours worked.

  • Writing performance reviews for all employees to maintain continuous learning, growth and development.

  • Liaising between all departments and staff while overseeing work organized by supervisors and leads.

  • Monitors department work productivity and recommends any improvements or changes to increase safety and efficiency.

  • Communicating and responding to daily e-mails in a timely fashion while also keeping others informed and up to date on issues.

  • On occasion or when necessary assisting in the practical “hands-on” work in order to maintain team moral and workloads accomplished in a timely fashion.

  • Operate a radio frequency (RF) gun.

  • Ensure a safe working environment by following all safety rules and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Multi-tasking under fast paced conditions

  • Strong communication skills including written, verbal and listening to others

  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and adapt while making operational decisions

  • Experience in using a warehouse management system (WMS) – preferably SAP

  • Experience in use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word

  • Play a key role in the broader perspective of the department

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Strong computer skills

  • Mathematical aptitude
