Job Description

The Shipping Manager is responsible for real time analysis, assisting with the coordination and balance of the Shipping operations.  This role oversees and assist in the balancing of man power for all areas by assigning the picking and loading tasks for all production employees.  In addition, this role would be responsible for accurate recording and reporting of the truck and trailer numbers for outgoing deliveries, and reporting, researching, and resolving issues that occur in the interface between host system and WMS in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for real time analysis, overseeing the coordination and balance of Shipping Operations (allocation of man power)
  • Oversees the assigning of picking/loading tasks
  • Oversees the recording and reporting of outbound deliveries
  • Provides support in reporting, researching and resolving issues that occur in the interface between host system and WMS in a timely manner
  • Ensure all tasks are completed accurately and on time
  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge and understanding of all Systems
  • Performs departmental audits
  • Provides administrative support for the Operations Manager
  • Remains in contact with stores and depots to ensure compliance
  • Tracks and reports department productivity trends
  • Ensures safety rules and regulations are adhered to and followed
  • Directs and develops department supervisors and leads
  • Talent Acquisition - maintain targeted staffing levels between departments
  • Report key metrics to operations leadership
  • Coordinate activity between shipping departments
  • Maintain a system of department procedures
  • Determine best utilization of dock space for the most productive flow of goods
  • Maintain targeted budget of department expense
  • Work in coordination with Sr. Operations Managers
  • Performs additional duties as requested

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience in a Warehouse atmosphere
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Skilled at multi-tasking and managing competing priorities
  • Detail oriented and accurate
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly recognize and diagnose trends and patterns in productivity data
  • Must be able to work flexible hours determined by the needs of the department including weekends and evenings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel and SAP
