Job Description

A challenging career opportunity exists to join the Corporate Finance team of a growing furniture retailer in Manchester, CT. As a Senior Financial Analyst - Payroll, you will support the Company’s payroll operations for a growing number of commission-based Sales Associates. This role will provide an understanding of the finance side of our payroll and commission data. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly commission reports along with calculating deficits and guaranteed payments  and distribute copies to all stores
  • Respond promptly to all payroll inquiries 
  • Prepare month end bonus payout files and employee level payroll metrics
  • Prepare detail payroll reports, weekly and monthly journal entries, and variance analyses
  • Monitor payroll system checks to ensure systems and postings are working properly
  • Identify enhancement opportunities within existing processes, lead change process when required
  • Work closely with Finance, Payroll, HR, and Store Operations
  • Assist in month end closing process 
  • Support the HR function in connection with financial forecasting and budgeting 
  •  Assist with What-if analysis and other scenario analysis in support of the FP&A function
  • Special projects, as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • 4-7 years related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with payroll functions in particular
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs with intermediate Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Dependable, honest, and confidential
  • Detail oriented, strong time management skills, and good communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP or Workday
