Job Description

With over ten thousand US domestic trucking moves per year to Bob’s facilities in the USA to support our ever growing and famous furniture stores – this position greatly supports the efficient inbound moves of all these shipments to final distribution center destinations. This position includes dealing with multiple US trucking companies as well as domestic factories. Focus area for this position is centered more on the final inbound processes when the trucking shipments move to final distribution centers.

Job Responsibilities

In communication with supplier two weeks (4 weeks for Landed) in advance of DC Due Date to confirm CRD's. Report all delay’s immediately to Replenishment & communicate a monthly summary of these by supplier.                                  Confirms DC appointment, PO Due Dates, & PO quantities in TMS for delivery into our DC. Report all PO discrepancies to Replenishment & communicate a monthly summary of these by supplier.                    Confirms carrier tendering and delivery date & time with carrier, report all discrepancies.                                            Keypunch DC appointments in SAP.  (TMS will automate this in late Fall, 2020) Monitor the shipment to correct & report delays to Replenishment & communicate a monthly summary of carrier delays & performance.                                                DC unloads and processes receiving for the PO.

Reports on monthly timeliness of yard arrival verses putaway by DC and product category.

Field questions/communications with domestic truckers concerning deliveries/TM use, etc… Reconciling domestic carrier accessorial invoices – both for detention charges caused by the Vendors as well as the DC’s. Create domestic SOP’s to ensure process optimization.

Required Qualifications

  • Past working knowledge in Logistics– ie., Freight Forwarding, Customs Brokerage, Ocean/air Carriers, Trucking, Distribution.
  • Driven individual with the ability to follow up daily on issues and problems until resolved and to document the histories.
  • Flexibility to manage and work on different tasks in an ever changing global environment.

Not Applicable.

Work Environment

Position resides at Bobs’ Headquarters in Manchester, CT.

High level of collaboration with Bobs’ areas at the home office as well as the various Distribution Centers. Constant phone , email and report monitoring communication with Bob’s trucking partners and Vendors. Use of video and web conferences required.

Physical Demands

Standard office work environment type demand-sitting, typing with some domestic travel.

Expected Hours of Work and Travel

40 hours per week being flexible ontime each day due to nature of global communication and dealing with different time zones.

Travel domestically 2 – 4 times per year visiting, ports, Customs partners and Distribution Centers.

Required Education and Experience

  • 2-4 years previous experience in Logistics – ie., Freight Forwarding, Customs Brokerage, Ocean/air Carriers, Trucking, Distribution.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Office tools – specifically Excel, Word and  Access.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 2-4 years previous experience in Logistics – ie., Freight Forwarding, Customs Brokerage, Ocean/air Carriers, Trucking, Distribution.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office tools – specifically Excel, Word and  Access.
  • Experience in Flowcharting with Visio.
  • College Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain.
