FP&A Senior Analyst, Margin

We are seeking a talented FP&A Senior Analyst in charge of Margin to join our growing Finance Team! This is a unique opportunity for a proactive individual looking for a transformational, challenging and fast paced role supporting our efforts to enhance our retail margin understanding and achieve our margin goals. This individual is expected to be highly analytical and proficient in communicating results to a broad audience. A background in retail and working with the merchandising function on setting and tracking margin goals will help this individual quickly get up to speed with the job requirements.

This position is expected to advance our understanding of our business through development of internal reporting and analysis on margin performance and trends, support the organizational margin budgeting and forecast process, and participate in preparation of monthly/quarterly business reviews. In addition, this role is expected to perform ad-hoc analysis of business performance and the effectiveness of various strategies, providing actionable insights and recommendations on how to improve the business.

Job Responsibilities

• Support the FP&A department in leading the budgeting, forecasting, and reporting process of margin performance and trends to highlight and better understand business trends

• Thoughtfully organize and extract data needed to perform crucial analysis over performance. 

• Business partner to Finance and Merchandise teams as it relates to Gross Margin analysis

• Hindsight business results versus budget/forecast and last year on a daily/monthly/quarterly/ad-hoc basis to develop succinct, actionable go-forward strategies to drive margin

• Analyze day-to-day financial performance and dig into results to find insightful trends or anomalies

 • Create, distribute and present daily, weekly and monthly reports to various levels of management

• Analyze and track strategic initiatives, including development of supporting models and impact on margin

• Create Ad-hoc research, modeling, what if analysis and reporting as needed while automating reporting whenever necessary

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics or related field

• 5+ years of experience in FP&A environment with focus on analysis of margin

• Experience running and/or participating in Merchandising margin strategy as well as forecasting and tracking results

• Ability to identify data need and efficiently organize and report on large data sets in excel or working with IT on internal systems (e.g. Power BI, SAP BW).

• Proven quantitative and analytical skills

• Exceptional and advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills and proficiency in working with different systems to retrieve and analyze data

• Demonstrate high level of intellectual curiosity that translates into new approaches to business issues

• Ability to establish credibility with senior leaders and functional experts

• Thrive in a high performance, fast‐paced, entrepreneurial environment

• Balance multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines with limited supervision. Proven thought leadership skills, including the ability to be innovative and be able to drive results both as an individual and team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Power BI or similar ERP experience in developing automated reporting and insights

• Experience working in a retail environment
