Director, Digital and eCommerce User Experience (UX)

In this role you will be responsible for shaping the user experience for, customer-facing elements of related software, and other future digital products & services.  Reporting to the Vice President of Ecommerce, you will play a critical role in the success of our fast-growing $200 million eCommerce channel and in increasing eCommerce share of $200 billion overall company sales.

You will focus on driving an optimal and engaging user experience for over 1 million site sessions per week, leading all aspects of UX, UI, and interaction development across multiple program priorities, leveraging strong knowledge of UX methodologies, understanding of business objectives and complex workflows, customer feedback, and market trends.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as the bridge between the creative and development teams to produce the optimal customer experience (combining the art of UX with the science of human interaction & web development to create UX that is both buildable and delivers a sense of wow)
  • Collaborate with IT, Marketing & Creative, Merchandising, Customer Experience, Store Operations, Delivery, Customer Care, and external vendor partners to drive a best-in-class eCommerce UX, seamless omnichannel experience, sales, operational efficiencies, and other KPIs
  • Ensure wireframes, process flows, and other UI/UX artifacts can be successfully delivered from ideation to implementation, partnering with creative, IT, and development teams
  • Understand business objectives, complex workflows, and end-user needs with ability to translate that into a seamless experience for the customer
  • Lead and direct a team of UX architects to establish and deploy an effective process and maintain a scalable interface system
  • Define and prioritize UX & UI deliverables schedule based on product roadmap and future releases
  • Influence product strategy and future vision of product, striving to build strong business relationships with internal and external partners and keep cross-discipline teams aligned
  • Identify usability obstacles and work to find innovative solutions to minimize their impact, including any usability testing
  • Help develop front-end specifications using wireframes, workflows, comps, interactive prototypes and other visual aids
  • Coordinate user research efforts across product development, leveraging user feedback and analytics to uncover insights that help inform interface decisions
  •  Advocate for strong user perspective across all scrum teams and product development
  • Provide training and mentorship to team and internal partners

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • 5+ years of extensive work in UX for customer-facing applications
  • 2+ years of leadership experience including people management and development, partner
  • interaction, process management and UX ownership for B2C applications
  • Familiarity with ADA WCAG 2.0 AA compliance guidelines to drive all UX deliverables
  • Strong acumen and passion for UX and UI
  • Extensive experience collaborating across UX and IT teams on technical implementations
  • Able to present case study of conceptual or strategic work within a UX team
  • Creative with a love of visuals and intuitive interfaces, meticulous attention to detail, and obsessed with understanding customers
  • Experience and ability to establish credibility within creative design, product, and IT teams
  • Love working in a cross-functional, fast-moving, and highly collaborative environment focused on striving for excellence, managing change, and finding actionable solutions
  • Agile mindset, comfortable operating in an evolving environment with changing priorities
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated with ability to take ownership, prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently (including remote work)
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to successfully juggle multiple priorities
  • Desire to inspire individuals to perform at highest of standards at all times
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in HCI, UX, or equivalent field
  • Proficient with industry standard UX tools (i.e., Sketch, InVision, Zeplin, Axure)

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with SAP Hybris platform a plus
  • Experience in the Retail industry (furniture category)
